Mayfield Group, LLC – Business Development Intern (Spring 2023)

Are you an aspiring business professional with a passion for small business development? Are you ready to collaborate with inspiring entrepreneurs from across the Hampton Roads region and learn first-hand the ins and outs of starting a business? If so, keep reading! We are seeking a college-level intern to dedicate 15-20 hours per week to our growing enterprise.

The Mayfield Group LLC, is a consulting business that helps emerging entrepreneurs set up their business accurately and provide top notch referral services so they can maintain and sustain a successful company.

Intern Job Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Founder, CEO and owner to support business operations, to  include providing a positive and impactful customer experience for potential clients.
• Interact with potential clients via email, in-person, phone or through social media to educate them on our services and refer them to company leadership.
• Schedule meetings and coordinate business calendar; communicate effectively with leadership to notify of schedule changes.
• Support the planning of social media engagement calendars, create persuasive social media posts, and assist with social media brainstorming campaigns.
• Design and create compelling marketing flyers and other business-related documents, inputting meaningful data into digital documents and performing other tasks as required.
• Participate in select networking and community events to meet local business leaders and learn about opportunities to grow as an emerging professional.

Work Hours & Benefits: This unpaid, for-credit, internship will span 15-20 hours per week for the Spring 2023 semester. The goal is to help a talented student get real-world work experience while they are still completing their degrees or professional training. The selected intern will be properly trained on concepts ranging from obtaining a business license to creating workshops to help businesses grow. While students will be expected to occasionally come into our Portsmouth office location, this position is primarily hybrid with flexible scheduling.

Intern Qualifications / Skills:

• Excellent verbal and written communications
• Comfortable with managing social media platforms and minor website updates
• Professional, positive and energetic
• Access to a computer and reliable internet access
• Passion to learn about business development and marketing concepts

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

• Current college student
• Prior customer service experience is preferred
• All majors are welcome, including business, marketing, mass communications, public relations, or human services.
• Students must be able to receive college credit.
